Thank you for all the prayers and support! We have been so encouraged by all the people who have come alongside us in the last few weeks.
First of all, our meeting last night went very well. I hope to learn more today about what I can and cannot share here, so will share more later if possible. We are indeed planning to welcome children into our home this weekend!
We have been told that foster care and adoption involve spiritual warfare. Honestly, my first response to that kind of claim is skepticism. However, both the story of Job in the Bible and C.S. Lewis' book The Screwtape Letters make me think there is more going on than we can see. They show although the devil has limited power, he will do whatever he can to disrupt, discourage, and distract people from God and His plan. I think that is happening. Since the beginning of this process, things have happened. We have had non-serious but annoying health issues. Louie has had non-serious but messy health issues. This morning, the day of our home study (hopefully), he woke up frantic with an ear infection (we think). Because we have time to take him to the vet today, of course. And now, the day of our home study, our area is supposed to get hit with an ice/snow storm. On the other side of "the battle," I shared about our pastor's wife praying during my phone call with the social worker. My husband had someone tell him she was prompted to pray for us, too, even though she knew nothing about our situation.
If nothing else, we feel the need to pray more and ask people to pray for us more. So, please keep those prayers coming! Also please consider sharing an encouraging verse in the comments below.
Now I have to get back to cleaning for a home study that may or may not happen today. Have a wonderful day!
